Seven Tips to Avoid Plagiarism

1. Start making a bibliography right at the start of your research. Be sure to list all important information from each source. Use Citation Maker while you work online.

2. Take good notes, but do not write in complete sentences. This helps you use your own words when writing your final drafts.

3. Avoid cutting and pasting.

4. If you copy word for word, make sure it is in quotation marks " " in your final draft and that your source is listed.

Make a list of the information you are looking for before you read.

6. Read the whole page or article before you start taking notes.

7. When you are writing your paper, use phrases like "according to Jane Doe..." to give full credit to the author of a source you are referring to.
