Whiteout Dance - Friday the 13th
Idea Lab + hard work = making a difference
Through Idea Lab, Izzy organized a bottle drive and successfully raised enough money to adopt an Amur Leopard on behalf of the Mahoney Community! With help from Olivia and guidance from Ms. Gartley, Izzy placed collection boxes throughout the school and made regular announcements to let the school know how the fund raising was going. Their donation was recognized with a super certificate from the World Wildlife Fund.
Stuffing That Bus!
The Mahoney community donated 1,630 food items plus $250 to Preble Street in this year's drive. Ms. Gartley's homeroom led the way by donating 168 items, while the 7th grade was the overall grade leader. Special thanks go to JMG students and Mr. Kozaka for all their hard work in organizing and carrying out the drive.

Idea Lab![]() The Idea Lab at Mahoney is a place where kids can work on something important to them that goes beyond assigned work. One project underway now is a bottle drive to raise money to help save the amur leopard from extinction. Sixth graders Izzy and Olivia want to do their part so they have placed signs and boxes around Mahoney where returnable bottles and cans can be dropped. The girls do the leg work of collecting and returning with all the proceeds going to save the amur leopard. It's a great idea and its off to a great start. If you're at Mahoney, don't miss the chance to pitch in with a bottle or can. To join the Idea Lab, see Ms. Gartley in the library. For more information, visit the Idea Lab website. ![]() Leadership Training
JMG student officers spent two days at the Pine Tree Camp in Rome, Maine learning leadership skills and participating in team building initiatives. Highlights included a GRIT presentation from former olympian Julia Clucked, Special Forces Ranger, Sargent Mitchell and the Army National Guard. Students will use these skills back in their schools to lead their JMG programs throughout the school year in community wide projects. See news coverage here: WFVX Bangor |
