8th Grade Social - There will be an 8th grade social planning meeting tomorrow, Wednesday, March 28th at 6:00 in the Mahoney library.
Yearbooks: Pre-order your yearbooks now! Sales are open until April vacation. Yearbooks are $27 a piece and can be ordered through Mr. Patashnik in room 122 before and after school. Don’t wait, yearbooks sold out last year!
Homework Club will start Monday and run from 2:50-3:50 on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Homework club is an opportunity for students to stay after school and complete homework or study in a quiet and safe setting.. Each day there will be at least one adult to supervise and support students. Please note that only students who plan on using this time productively are welcome.
SOPO Teen Center:
The Teen Center is open Monday through Thursday from 2:30-5:30 and closed on Fridays.

Jazz rehearsals this week: Performance Tuesday and Friday morning; Training Jazz Will NOT rehearse this week..
OK it’s time! Time to sign up for the Memorial Day Color Guard! Sign up with Mrs. Barry today in room 201. The first meeting will be this Friday after school in the auditorium lobby.

Spring Sports Information:
Spring sports sign ups will begin this week, with the first spring practices to begin April 2nd (weather permitting). Below you will find a list of the sports offered at Mahoney and applicable information. Schedules for all sports can be found here.
Lacrosse - Open to 7th and 8th graders with each grade having its own team if numbers allow. Practices will be held after school at the Wainwright sports complex Shuttles will be providing transportation to and from the fields.
Baseball - Open to 7th and 8th graders with each grade having its own team if numbers allow. Practices will be held after school at Mahoney.
Softball - Open to 7th and 8th graders with each grade having its own team if numbers allow. Practices will be at Wainwright sports complex with shuttles providing transportation to and from the fields.
Track and Field - Open to 6th, 7th and 8th graders. Practices will be held after school at Mahoney.
SOPO Ultimate Frisbee - SOPO Rec. dept. does put together a 6-8 grade Ultimate Frisbee team. Practices are held at Wainwright fields and shuttles are provided from Mahoney to and from practices. Extra-Curricular Eligibility - All athletes need a signed athletic contract (once per school year), signed concussion waiver (once per school year) and an updated physical on file (good for two calendar years) in order to participate. Students also need to maintain a HOW average of 2.5 in each of the three HOW criteria. Forms to be signed can be found on the athletics website.
Any student who wants to ride the van to the Boys and Girls club needs to pick up a form in the Main office.

Room 207 is open during IW days for students who want to use a laptop. Students can print, practice touch typing or learn to code. iPads are not in use in Rom 207.

Next week, the library will be hosting another week of media studies sessions. Topics include writing about video games, the hero’s journey in Star Wars, Archie Comics and Riverdale, and how comic books speak to us. Pre-registration is encouraged. For more information or to sign up, talk to Ms. Gartley in the library.
Also, there are currently 153 overdue books which need to be returned to the library. Watch for overdue notices in homeroom this week, and please return overdue books before April vacation. Talk to Ms. Gartley if you have any questions or concerns.
