Spring Sports Update:
Outdoor track and Girls Lacrosse will start Monday April 8th due to coaches’ decisions
Boys Lacrosse will begin practice this afternoon. The shuttle for Wainwright leaves at 3:00.
Baseball will have practice this week; 7th grade on Tuesday (4/2) and 8th grade Thursday (4/4) afternoon in the gym.
Softball will have practice Monday (4/1) and Wednesday (4/3) afternoon in the gym.
There will be a Drama Club meeting today at 3:00 in the auditorium. All Drama Students please attend...this will be a very short meeting!
Dear 8th Grade Parents,
For more than 20 years, South Portland 8th Grades have participated in Job Shadow Day. It is an opportunity for our students to get out in the community and explore a wide variety of career options and pathways. This year, Mahoney and Memorial will be collaborating and doing Job Shadow Day together, on Tuesday, April 30. Also new this year are several added host sites and an electronic application. In addition to individual host sites, students will have an opportunity to 'Career Sample' for the day at Portland Arts and Technology High School, You will receive the electronic application packet on Thursday, March 28. It will be due on Tuesday, April 2. FMI contact your school Counselor, or Community Partnerships Director Jane Eberle at 773-5629, ext. 3432 or eberleja@spsdme.org.
South Portland Middle School Ultimate Team: All students are welcome to join the Ultimate Frisbee team--learn to huck the disc and lay out! Practices will start indoors in April and then move outside when Wainwright fields are ready. The team will play games against other middle schools during the week and on several weekends. Sign up through the South Portland Rec Department: 767-7650.

Beginner Band will meet after school Tuesday.
Honors Jazz will rehearse Wednesday morning. Your festival is this Thursday and Friday. Your dues and fees need to be paid!
Color Guard practices start Wednesday after school. Please meet outside the auditorium.
Performance Jazz will rehearse Friday morning only this week.
Sports Eligibility: Students must maintain a 2.5 HOW score, have an up to date physical on file and have signed up electronically through RankOne sports management. The website can be found here (https://southportland.rankonesport.com/New/Home.aspx).
Brown Elementary has asked us to remind students to not come on school grounds as they leave Mahoney in the afternoon. There is a lot of activity as the elementary students are dismissed and the adults are helping the younger students hop on the right bus or make their way to their parents. Thank you for reinforcing this with your student.
Homework Club runs from 3:00-4:00 on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Homework club is an opportunity for students to stay after school and complete homework or study in a quiet and safe setting.. Each day there will be at least one adult to supervise and support students. Please note that only students who plan on using this time productively are welcome.
The cafeteria is open for breakfast everyday until 8:25. Please know that only those that are eating breakfast should be in the cafeteria at this time.

Yearbook presale is happening now until April vacation. The cost is $27 and can be purchased with Mr. Patashnik before or after school. Yearbooks did sell out last year so come to preorder ASAP!
