The Civil Rights team will have a meeting Monday morning at 7:30, breakfast will be provided!
The South Portland Clubhouse is offering the following for our middle schoolers:
Boys & Girls Clubs of Southern Maine Middle School Debate Team – Practice Fridays 4:30-6:00 pm starting 10/13 at the Portland Clubhouse, meets against Yarmouth Middle School, Cape Elizabeth Middle School, NYA, and Falmouth Middle School. Transportation to and from practice can be provided by the South Portland Clubhouse. This is the second year we have competed in this league.
Mindstorms – Lego Robotics. Tuesdays 4:00-5:00 pm, starting 10/17 at the South Portland Clubhouse. Build your EV3 robot and put the robot through programming challenges.

Sports Notes:
Boys Soccer - 8th grade ONLY - Home game at 4:00. 7th grade will not have practice.
Girls Soccer - 8th grade ONLY - Home game at 5:00. 7th grade will not have practice.
Field Hockey - Game at Gorham. 3:00 bus and 4:00 game start.
Cross Country - Practice at Mahoney from 3:00-4:00
Tennis - No tennis practice this evening
Rippleffect: Attention 7th and 8th grade parents! We are lucky enough to have Rippleffect back at Mahoney for another year. Parent information night is Wednesday, October 17th in the Mahoney Library at 6:00.
YANKEE CANDLE
Mahoney PTA Fundraiser
The PTA is asking students to sell Yankee Candle items in order to raise money. Please return the completed order forms to the main office no later than Monday, October 16th.
Any student who wants to ride the van to the Boys and Girls club needs to pick up a form in the Main office.
Homework Club will start Monday and run from 3:00-4:00 on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Homework club is an opportunity for students to stay after school and complete homework or study in a quiet and safe setting.. Each day there will be at least one adult to supervise and support students. Please note that only students who plan on using this time productively are welcome.
The cafeteria is open for breakfast everyday 8:10-8:25. Please know that only those that are eating breakfast should be in the cafeteria at this time. Would you like to set up a lunch account for your student? Do you know what the balance is on your student’s account? Head to myschoolbucks.com to take care of this!

Rippleffect is back for Fall! This is open to 7th and 8th graders--stop by the office for information.
Just a reminder, phones should be turned off and either in your locker or bag for the entire day!

Anyone interested in joining the Drama Club that didn’t attend yesterday’s meeting, please see Mrs. B in the office!
There is IW for grades 6 and 7 this afternoon. Be sure to bring some work with you to be productive.
Students, we are thanking you in advance for your participation in this year’s Fall PTA fundraiser. By just selling one item, you can help out a lot!

8th grade boys and girls soccer teams will have home games this afternoon. Boys will play at 4:00 and Girls at 5:00.
Field hockey has a game in Gorham. The bus will leave promptly at 3:00.
7th grade soccer teams and the tennis team will not have practice today.
Music:
The instrument repair man will be here every Monday at 1:00 p.m. Please bring them to 201 and make sure you see Mrs. Barry.
Performance Jazz rehearses Tuesday and Friday mornings each week.
Training Jazz starts Thursday, October 12th! Sign up with Mrs. Barry right away!
Beginner Band meets Mondays after school.
7th and 8th Honors audition prep rehearsals are today after school and Wednesday morning. Auditions are Wednesday October 25th.
Library:
It’s Teen Read Week! Visit the library this week during workshop to find a good book or to relax and read, and you will be entered in a drawing to win free books!
