Rippleffect: Session #2 of Rippleffect will be this afternoon from 2:45-5:15
Homework Club will start Monday and run from 2:50-3:50 on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Homework club is an opportunity for students to stay after school and complete homework or study in a quiet and safe setting.. Each day there will be at least one adult to supervise and support students. Please note that only students who plan on using this time productively are welcome.
SOPO Unite - There will be a SOPO Unite student meeting Monday during workshop in Room 11.
SOPO Teen Center:
The Teen Center is open Monday through Thursday from 2:30-5:30 and closed on Fridays.

Volleyball Open Gym - Coach Kane at SPHS will be hosting a an open gym for any 7th and 8th grader girls interested in volleyball on April 28th and May 19th from 9-11am. Prior experience is not necessary, please email Coach Kane with any questions nicolemc12@gmail.com.

Spring Sports Information:
Spring sports sign ups will continue this week, with the first spring practices will begin April 9th (this date has been moved from 4/2 to allow fields another week to dry). Below you will find a list of the sports offered at Mahoney and applicable information. Schedules for all sports can be found here and a map of the Wainwright Complex can be found here.
Lacrosse - Open to 7th and 8th graders with each grade having its own team if numbers allow. Practices will be held after school at the Wainwright sports complex from 3:30-4:45. Shuttles will leave Mahoney at 3:00 and return approximately 5:15. At the Wainwright Complex the girls practice on field C3, games on Multi-purpose 2. Boys practice on field B3 and B4, games are on Multi-purpose 1.
Baseball - Open to 7th and 8th graders with each grade having its own team if numbers allow. Practices will be held after school at Mahoney. Practices will start on Monday, April 9th, at Mahoney from 3:15-4:45. Games will also be played at Mahoney.
Softball - Open to 7th and 8th graders with each grade having its own team if numbers allow. Practices will be held after school at the Wainwright sports complex from 3:30-4:45. Shuttles will leave Mahoney at 3:00 and return approximately 5:15. Practices and games will be held on Softball field 2 for 8th grade; practices will be on Softball field 4 and games on Softball field 2 for 7th grade.
Track and Field - Open to 6th, 7th and 8th graders. Practices will be held after school at Mahoney from 3:00-4:30.
SOPO Ultimate Frisbee - SOPO Rec. dept. does put together a 6-8 grade Ultimate Frisbee team. Practices are held at Wainwright fields and shuttles are provided from Mahoney to and from practices. Practices will be held on Multi-purpose field 3 and games will be on Quads D and E.
Extra-Curricular Eligibility - All athletes need a signed athletic contract (once per school year), signed concussion waiver (once per school year) and an updated physical on file (good for two calendar years) in order to participate. Students also need to maintain a HOW average of 2.5 in each of the three HOW criteria. Forms to be signed can be found on the athletics website.
Any student who wants to ride the van to the Boys and Girls club needs to pick up a form in the Main office.

Room 207 is open during IW days for students who want to use a laptop. Students can print, practice touch typing or learn to code. iPads are not in use in Rom 207.

Today for Media Studies Week, we will learn about The Hero’s Journey through Luke Skywalker’s story in Star Wars. Then, we’ll see how other favorite heroes like Harry Potter, Katniss Everdeen, Fireheart and Frodo Baggins also followed the Hero’s Journey.
