PARENT NOTES:
Skate Park:
There is a city council workshop on December 17 at 6:30 in order to choose the best location for the new South Portland Skate Park.
Although the December 3rd Odyssey of the Mind info session was cancelled due to school closing, I am reaching out to those families of Mahoney students who have participated in Odyssey of the Mind at Brown School to make sure you were aware that signups are now open.
Fill out the attached form to sign up and return to school by Dec. 13th. (and mark your calendar for the regional competition on March 14, 2020!)
Feel free to share with other Mahoney friends. No prior Odyssey of the Mind experience necessary!
SOPO UNITE will be at Mahoney on Thursday, 12/11, to meet with 7th and 8th graders. All are welcome!
All semester course scores will be final at the end of the semester. Students need to make sure that they are talking with their teachers and making sure they have their assignments completed. If there are absences or other issues that would allow for an extension, this would be determined by the teacher and student PRIOR to the close of the semester. When in doubt, it is always a good idea to ask the teacher!
Mahoney Dance: There will be a school dance on Friday 12/13 from 6-8. Admission is $6 and the dance is for current Mahoney students only.
Sports:
Boys Basketball Home. 7th grade at 3:30 and 8th grade at 4:30.
Girls Basketball @ Memorial. 2:55 bus. 7th grade at 3:30 and 8th grade at 4:30.

The cafeteria is open for breakfast everyday until 8:25. Please know that only those that are eating breakfast should be in the cafeteria at this time.

All musicians, our concert is this Wednesday, December 11th! Concert notices are due back, signed by a parent. Please get them in ASAP. Additional copies are available on your grade band Google Classroom.
The instrument repairman is here Today at 1:00 p.m. Your instrument must be in 201 first thing this morning.
Beginner band will practice today after school--only for work on current band music, please. 6th graders must plan to attend.
Performance Jazz will rehearse Tuesday and Friday mornings.
Training Jazz will NOT rehearse Thursday morning next week.

Drama Club will meet today in the auditorium
Game Club will meet Wednesday after school this week.
"The next Mahoney dance is Friday, December 13th from 6-8pm. The theme is Fire & Ice, so wear either red or blue, and watch as the two mix on the dance floor. There will be dancefloor competitions, refreshments, and a board game room. Tickets are $6, be sure to bring extra money for the concession stand."

Ms. Gartley is looking for students who would like to volunteer to lead game sessions during workshop the week before winter break. Games include Dungeons & Dragons, Honey Heist, Plague Inc, Boss Monster, and others. Come talk to Ms. Gartley in the library if you think you’d make a good Dungeon Master.

- To continue to be eligible for athletics students need to maintain a 2.5 HOW average in all three HOW categories. Mr. Ouellet runs reports on Monday mornings; students and parents will be contacted if there is a concern of eligibility.
