Rippleffect:
There is a parent meeting this Wednesday, 10/3, for those in the Fall session of rippleffect. The meeting will be in the Mahoney library at 6:00.
ROLE - Rippleffect Outdoor Leadership Education - is back at Mahoney for another year! We will have two sessions one in the Fall and another coming in the Spring of 2019. The ROLE program is an afterschool leadership development program and wilderness expedition geared towards middle schoolers. There is a $60 fee associated with this program, but scholarships are available through Rippleffect. The first 14 students who turn in completed paperwork will be admitted to this session, please grab a packet in the main office and sign-up for a great experience!
MUSIC:
Performance Jazz Screenings are tomorrow, Tuesday. This is the last day of auditions. Arrive by 7:30 and sign in to homeroom first. We begin at 7:40 in the auditorium!
Listen for the start date for Training Jazz--it does NOT start this week!
Beginner Band meets today after school in room 201.
7th and 8th Honors band practices continue next week--Tuesday after school and Wednesday before school.
Sports:
Boys Soccer Home @ Mahoney. 7th grade at 3:30 and 8th grade at 4:30.
Girls Soccer @ Memorial. 2:55 bus. 7th grade at 3:30 and 8th grade at 4:30.
In the case of poor weather, cancellation decision will be made by 1:00pm and announcements will be made on our school website and our twitter pages.
7th and 8th Grade Boys Soccer - Practice at Mahoney from 3:00-4:30. Wednesdays and Fridays only.
7th and 8th Grade Girls Soccer - Practice at Mahoney from 3:00-4:30. Tuesdays and Thursdays only.
Field Hockey - Practice at Wainwright Fields, daily, from 3:45-5:15. The shuttle leaves Wainwright at 5:15
(to be brought back to Mahoney).
Tennis - Practice at SPHS Tennis courts, daily, from 3:00-4:30. There is NO return shuttle for Tennis.
Cross Country - Practice at Mahoney, daily, from 3:00-4:00.
Sports Eligibility: Students must maintain a 2.5 HOW score, have an up to date physical on file and have signed up electronically through RankOne sports management. The website can be found here (https://southportland.rankonesport.com/New/Home.aspx).
Brown Elementary has asked us to remind students to not come on school grounds as they leave Mahoney in the afternoon. There is a lot of activity as the elementary students are dismissed and the adults are helping the younger students hop on the right bus or make their way to their parents. Thank you for reinforcing this with your student.
Homework Club starts today and runs from 3:00-4:00 on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Homework club is an opportunity for students to stay after school and complete homework or study in a quiet and safe setting.. Each day there will be at least one adult to supervise and support students. Please note that only students who plan on using this time productively are welcome.
The cafeteria is open for breakfast everyday until 8:25. Please know that only those that are eating breakfast should be in the cafeteria at this time.

Mahoney's Environmental Club is called the Green Team, we meet on Tuesday afternoons, right after school in room 108, Mrs. Pitt's room.

Student Morning Announcements: Monday, October 1, 2018 Day 1
Intervention workshop begins this afternoon for grades 6 and 7. Intervention workshop takes place in the cafeteria during period 7. If you have not been drafted by a teacher, or have self-drafted, come down to the cafeteria and bring materials to be productive. Note that there is only iPad use for those doing an online assignment.
There are still a few spots open for Rippleffect. Please turn in your completed paperwork to secure your slot for this fall’s session.
Just a reminder, phones should be turned off and either in your locker or bag for the entire day!
