Homework Club - Homework club will begin on Monday October 17 in the Mahoney library. Homework club runs from 2:30-3:30 on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Homework club is an opportunity for students to stay after school to get help from staff members. Each day there are 2 adult to supervise and support students. Please note that only students who plan on using this time productively are welcome.
R.O.L.E. (Rippleffect Outdoor Leadership Education) - The ROLE program is offered to 7th and 8th grade students from Maine middle schools and is designed to develop leadership, confidence, awareness and interpersonal skills through outdoor adventure programming. The ROLE program consists of 4, 2.5 hour after-school sessions, a long weekend to Cow Island and a culminating graduation ceremony. The Fall session of this program is currently full, but registrations are being taken for the Winter and Spring sessions. Mahoney's Flu Clinic is October 18th at 10:00. Click here for more information and click here for the form to fill out to have your child get a flu shot at school. Students, the cafeteria is open for breakfast everyday until 7:50. Please know that only those that are eating breakfast should be in the cafeteria at this time.
Civil Rights Team will meet on Monday at 7:00 in room 111. Breakfast will be severed and all interested students in all grades are welcome!
The chill in the air inside is an indication that cold weather is here. Please remember that you are expected to stay outside until the 7:35 bell rings. Be sure to dress warmly or plan to arrive after 7:35.

*Beginner Band runs on Mondays immediately after school in room 201.
*District One 7 and 8 Honors Band audition practice sessions are Tuesday after school and Wednesday morning before school. Please see Mrs. Barry if there are conflicts. Students must see Mrs. Barry weekly in order to be prepared for the auditions on October 26th!

In Sports new from earlier this week…
7th grade girls soccer won 2-0 over Lincoln middle school Wednesday. Goals scored by Eva Tierney-Trevor, assisted by Zoe Baker and a penalty kick goal by Eliese Perron. Defensive player of the game was Audrey Pearson.
The 8th grade boys soccer tied Lincoln Wednesday 2-2. Anthony Nixon and Mekhi Bitjoka scored for Mahoney. Frank Tierney had several excellent saves, and was helped by strong games from Damian Robinson-Handle and Ali Abad.
The Mahoney cross country team had strong showing at Wednesday's meet held at the South Portland Municipal Golf Course. Marcella Hesser, Bella Carrier and Ava Smart all finished in the top 10 out of 64 runners and Olivia Smith cut 2 minutes off her best time. For the boys Eben Drolet and Henry Falatko finished in the top 20 and Jack Smart finished 6th overall.

This program will have three offerings throughout the year, for this Fall session at Mahoney we will take the first 14 students who return the filled out paperwork.
