PARENT NOTES:
Hello Mahoney Families, it is that time of year again when the Mahoney PTA puts on our very much anticipated Teacher Appreciation Week the week of March 13th! We are spreading out the appreciation over three days to thank the teachers even more. Tuesday the 14th 7am-10am we will be having our breakfast party, Wednesday the 15th 10am-1pm our luncheon, and Thursday the 16th 4:15-5:45 our dinner during conferences. We are using Sign Up Genius hoping to make contributing easier but please know that your meal doesn’t have to be specific from the sign up list- everything homemade gets eaten! https://www.signupgenius.com/go/4090A49AFA82FA3FC1-mahoney
Food, drinks, and items can be dropped off at Mahoney when convenient for you and your student can bring into school the day of as well. Staff is always helpful making sure it gets in the fridge if needed or plugged in if hot. If preparing a meal or dropping off something doesn’t work with your schedule, feel free to make a contribution on our Paypal link http://mahoney.spsd.org/pta.html for items that the PTA will be covering financially. Any and all help is much appreciated, the PTA couldn’t do this without all our families coming together. We also thank you for your last minute attention to this email as we have short time with the planning. Any questions, please email Liz Tedford @ Elizabeth@portlandnannies.com or Desiree Bryant @ kdcast@hotmail.com
Thank You,
Elizabeth Tedford

The past couple of years the PTA have asked students to sell Yankee Candle items in order to raise money. This year we have decided to do a 'No Frills' fundraiser. Many of you may be familiar with this idea. Instead of asking families to buy and sell items, we are looking for families to simply make a donation. Please click here for the details. As with any fundraiser, we thank you very much for your support!
South Portland School Department Phone Drive: Donate your old phone to help the SPSD InfoTech Department bring new and exciting technology to classrooms around the district!
What do we need?
- iPhones version 5 or newer.
- Modern Android phones (e.g. Galaxy, Nexus, Note, G3)
● Use with VR headsets so students can take virtual field trips.
● Connect with Twitter or other social media platforms to share classroom learning in real time.
● Use as a controller for robotics or drones.
Where can you bring your phones?
First wipe your phone by doing a factory reset, then bring it to any of the schools in the district. There will be drop off boxes in the front offices.
Questions? Please contact Meg Blakemore at Dyer Elementary School, blakemme@spsdme.org
*phones that are not used will be responsibly recycled
Homework Club runs from 2:30-3:30 on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Homework club is an opportunity for students to stay after school to get help from staff members. Each day there are 2 adult to supervise and support students. Please note that only students who plan on using this time productively are welcome.
The cafeteria is open for breakfast everyday until 7:50. Please know that only those that are eating breakfast should be in the cafeteria at this time.
The chill in the air inside is an indication that cold weather is here. Please remember that students are expected to stay outside until the 7:35 bell rings. They should dress warmly or plan to arrive after 7:35.
Would you like to set up a lunch account for your student? Does your student need more money on his/her account? Head to myschoolbucks.com to take care of this!
