Please note that our school day officially begins at 8:10 with our cafeteria serving breakfast. All students should be in their homerooms no later than 8:30 and the period 1 class begins at 8:35.
The Library is looking for over 100 overdue library books. Please look around at home and possibly in the bottom of a backpack?
Homework Club will start Monday and run from 2:50-3:50 on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Homework club is an opportunity for students to stay after school and complete homework or study in a quiet and safe setting.. Each day there will be at least one adult to supervise and support students. Please note that only students who plan on using this time productively are welcome.
The cafeteria is open for breakfast everyday 8:10-8:25. Please know that only those that are eating breakfast should be in the cafeteria at this time. Chorus: 6th Grade Honors Chorus will meet on Monday, February 5 from 2:45-3:30 and then not again until after vacation. (This is a change as Wednesday, February 7th is a half day!)
7/8th Grade Honors Chorus will meet on Wednesday, February 7 from 7:40-8:20 AM and then again on Tuesday, February 13 from 7:40-8:20 AM.
Sports Notes
Spring Sports Information:
Indoor Track - Open to all grades. Practices begin February 8th and run from 3:00-4:30 in Mahoney’s gym. Informational meeting Thursday, 2/1 @ 2:40 in room 110.
Swimming - Open to all grades. Practices begin February 14th and run from 3:20-4:20 at the SP Community Center. A shuttle will be leaving Mahoney at 3:00 and returning to Mahoney around 4:45. Informational meeting Friday, 2/2 @ 2:40 in room 110.
Eligibility - All athletes need a signed athletic contract (once per school year), signed concussion waiver (once per school year) and an updated physical on file (good for two calendar years) in order to participate. Students also need to maintain a HOW average of 2.5 in each of the three HOW criteria. Forms to be signed can be found here.

Any student who wants to ride the van to the Boys and Girls club needs to pick up a form in the Main office.
The Drama Club will be meeting Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday this week from 3:00- 4:30
Student Morning Announcements: Friday, February 2, 2018 Day 1
There is IW for grades 6 and 7 this afternoon.
Mrs. Rioux’s connections group is sponsoring a Hat Day today. The cost will be $1 to wear a hat.
The proceeds will be donated to the South Portland Police Department/Super-Wy fund which was started to help benefit two month old, Wyatt Sargent who has a very rare form of cancer.
The Boys & Girls Club will be holding a fun middle school event on Friday 2/2. It is a Glow Party. Lots of Glow paint, black lights, Glow in the Dark Games, Music and more. We would love your help in getting the word out. All middle schoolers are welcome. The event runs from 6-8 and if you have the time to stop by we would love to see you there.
Please remember that there should not be any snowball throwing/making/fighting on school grounds, at bus stops or on your way to or from school.
There will be a Civil Rights team meeting Monday Morning @ 7:30 in Room 203.
Sports Notes:
Signups for Indoor Track and Swimming are outside the main office. Practices will begin February 8th for track and the 14th for swimming.
A reminder, all students need to have a valid physical, signed contract and signed concussion waiver on file to participate in any athletic team.
For interested players, there will be an Swimming meeting after school in room 110.
Basketball players: If you haven’t turned in your uniform do so ASAP!
Music:
Beginner Band will meet Monday after school.
Training and Performance Jazz rehearsals this week;
Performance will rehearse Tuesday, and Training Jazz will meet on Thursday morning.
6th honors band will rehearse Wednesday after school
7th and 8th honors band will practice Tuesday after school and Wednesday morning. Please let Mrs. Barry know which rehearsal you can attend, and remember to bring your honors music and instrument.
Room 207 is open during IW days for students who want to use a laptop. Students can print, practice touch typing or learn to code. iPads are not in use in Rom 207.
