PARENT NOTES:
All students should have received their First Day Paperwork today. Please do you best to fill out the required forms and have these returned ASAP. We thank you!
Mahoney’s first PTA meeting on Wednesday, September 18 at 6:30 in room 11.
Mahoney’s PTA thanks you for your support during the upcoming Yankee Candle fundraiser. Who doesn’t need another candle (they have more than candles!) around the house?? While the paper version will be coming home this week, just click here to learn more and to view the many items to purchase electronically.
Mahoney’s first dance is on Friday, September 20th and is sponsored by the 8th grade. Parent chaperones from all grades are welcome, as are donations of snacks and small water bottles. Items can be dropped off in the main office at any time!
South Portland Skate Park Informational Meeting There will be a Skate Park Info meeting on Wednesday, October 2 at 6:00 p.m. at the South Portland Recreation Center on Nelson Road.
Sports:
Field Hockey - Home game @ Wainwright. Shuttle at 2:55, game at 3:45.
Wednesday is an early release day. There will be no practices after school; the Cross Country meet will still be on, but students must leave school grounds and come back for the 2:55 bus.

Brown Elementary has asked us to remind students to not come on school grounds as they leave Mahoney in the afternoon. There is a lot of activity as the elementary students are dismissed and the adults are helping the younger students hop on the right bus or make their way to their parents. Thank you for reinforcing this with your student.
The cafeteria is open for breakfast everyday until 8:25. Please know that only those that are eating breakfast should be in the cafeteria at this time.
Would you like to set up a lunch account for your student? Does your student need more money on his/her account? Head to myschoolbucks.com to take care of this!

7th and 8th grade musicians; the Honors Band Audition material is ready. Please pick some up as soon as you can. Our first practice time is today, right after school in room 201. Another practice time is Wednesday, before school.
Students please check your homes and lockers for all music equipment and books you may have. If you are not using our method books, they need to be returned to Mrs. Barry or the main office. Thanks!
Performance Jazz screening/auditions will continue Friday morning September 27 and next week, Tuesday and Friday mornings. Please remember to sign in to homeroom first!

There will be a yearbook informational meeting today after school for those students who did not attend last week’s informational meeting. Also, due to the half day tomorrow, there will not be a yearbook meeting tomorrow.
Students, our wonderful PTA is sponsoring a Yankee Candle fundraiser--you should have received the information from your Connections
Just a reminder, cell phones should be turned off and either in your locker for the entire day!
Please note that Brown Elementary has asked for our students to not head over to visit when you get dismissed here. It can get confusing for the younger students and so the adults’ focus will be on the younger students. Thank you!
Last nights sports action:
The 8th grade boys soccer team won 4-0 yesterday. Haven Savory-Kries, Tim Caouette, Che-Hao Saito, and Chris Keene each scored. Sam Scott and Chris Keene had assists, and Che-Hao had two. Eli Falatko and Chris Keene had excellent all around games.
