Lacrosse Announcement for Friday 4/28

We have moved the girls lacrosse game to Gorham so both boys and girls are taking the same bus.

Boys now have a combined 7th & 8th team – their game will be at 3:30
Girls 7th – 3:30 pm
Girls 8th – 4:45 pm
2:30 pm – bus depart from Mahoney
Bus will stop at Memorial approx.. 2:40 before heading to Gorham
Bus will bring teams back
Boys team will have to stay and watch the girls 4:45 game so everyone can come home together

PARENT NOTES:

Shout out to Digby Roberts and Kristen Deiley for placing in the Maine Letters About Literature Contest. Kristen was a Semi-Finalist and Digby won second place! Way to make Mahoney PROUD!!!

Sports:

Track meet @ Gorham High School. Bus leaves at 2:30, meet starts at 3:30.
Boys LAX @ Gorham MS. 2:30 Bus, game at 3:30.
Girls LAX @ Wainwright. 2:30 Shuttle, 7th grade at 3:30 and 8th grade at 4:45.
Baseball and Softball will have practice as usual.

Mahoney Practice Schedule for non-game days:
Baseball - 3:00-4:30 @ Mahoney
Softball - 3:00-4:30 @ Wainwright (Shuttle leaving Mahoney at 2:30 and returning at 4:30).
All Lacrosse - 3:00-4:30 @ Wainwright (Shuttle leaving Mahoney at 2:30 and returning at 4:30).
Track - 2:30-3:45/4:00 @ Mahoney
Ultimate Frisbee - 3:00-4:30 @ Wainwright (Shuttle leaving Mahoney at 2:30 and returning at 4:30).

Civil Rights will have a meeting Monday (5/1) at 7am, there will be breakfast!

The past couple of years the PTA have asked students to sell Yankee Candle items in order to raise money. This year we have decided to do a 'No Frills' fundraiser. Many of you may be familiar with this idea. Instead of asking families to buy and sell items, we are looking for families to simply make a donation. Please click here for the details. As with any fundraiser, we thank you very much for your support!

South Portland School Department Phone Drive: Donate your old phone to help the SPSD InfoTech Department bring new and exciting technology to classrooms around the district!
What do we need?

iPhones version 5 or newer.
Modern Android phones (e.g. Galaxy, Nexus, Note, G3)

What will we do with them? Phones can be used a variety of ways in the classroom including:
● Use with VR headsets so students can take virtual field trips.
● Connect with Twitter or other social media platforms to share classroom learning in real time.
● Use as a controller for robotics or drones.
Where can you bring your phones?
First wipe your phone by doing a factory reset, then bring it to any of the schools in the district. There will be drop off boxes in the front offices.

Homework Club runs from 2:30-3:30 on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Homework club is an opportunity for students to stay after school to get help from staff members. Each day there are 2 adult to supervise and support students. Please note that only students who plan on using this time productively are welcome.

The cafeteria is open for breakfast everyday until 7:50. Please know that only those that are eating breakfast should be in the cafeteria at this time.

*Important--Music booster scholarship applications are available and due back by this Friday, April 28th. See Mrs. Barry with questions.
* Spring Jazz will rehearse Tuesdays and Fridays. Please check in at homeroom first. We start playing at 7:15 a.m
* Our concert is May 24th and the Memorial Day Parade is May 29th! Notices are coming out this week--please get them home and shared with parents as soon as possible!

Some of our Mahoney students have been recognized by the Portland Sea Dogs as Most Improved Students so far this school year. Those who are recognized as Most Improved Students will be recognized before the May 17th Sea Dogs game. Congratulations to all!
